Reasons I love him

I have an affinity for blonde haired (and it looks so soft), blue eyed men. Not that some could tell by my tastes in otoge or fictional men as many tend to be brunette. Truly though, the man that usually causes me to swoon is blonde with clear blue eyes. Physically, Billy meets some silly requirement in my brain that meets this "attractive" qualifier. I suppose what's worse is that I think cowboys are awesome, so his occupation and way of dress just made the choice way too easy. Oh, he's blonde, bue eyed, and a cowboy. Three strikes I'm out at the old ball game.

I found the description for his profile a little off putting, I didn't want to deal with "the flirt" and based on previous knowledge of the cowboy trope/type, I knew he'd have to have a tragic past that made him emotionally distant. Or that he'd have some reason for being gruff or a loner. When he was first introduced I was pleasantly surprised that he was over-confident, cheery, and very eager to please. He was nothing like I'd been expecting. While he did have a past he wanted to hide and he was emotionally unavailable, he also happened to be no nonsense and to the point. I found those qualities far more charming and I focused on that rather than his "flirtations" with others. That's easy to do when the only time you see Billy flirt it with the player character. Billy and Soh both mention that Billy often spends his free time with other women, and the player charater mentions once that she notices the scent of another woman on Billy - but as far as actually flirting/womanizing goes, a lot of it is for show. Naturally, the player character keeps him from leaving too much and helps him open up to love (that's the point of otoge).

You'll love me.

His flirtations show me just how confident he is. I find his confidence charming. The way he speaks is so self assured that I can't help but laugh. I honestly believe that he believes everything he says is pure gold. And some of it really is. More than that though, I was happily amused for a few hours with a character that rolled out all of his best lines straight off and he was assured that he'd ultimately win.

One of my favorite things, however, is just how sassy he is. He's emotionally distant, he's really flippant about commitment and he says he ought to play the "bad guy" but, here's the thing, he's a sass box (er, that might be family vernacular for someone who teases people, tends to be sarcastic, and can be mildly flippant about important or inappropriate things). Billy says what's on his mind as its on his mind. One of my favorite scenes invovles the inevitable walking in on him in the shower cliches. In which the player gets up and goes to shower. She sees Billy and it takes him a good minute to realize he's standing there "as naked as the day he was born". Being the gentleman that he is, he grabs a towel.

Oh!

Thank you, Billy, for realizing htat the poor player character has a weak heart and that she needs this. Its not your fault she's completely hopeless. It never ends with everything perfect. In fact, the player character is so out of sorts that she trips and grabs something soft. And who might have guessed, it's obviously his towel. Obviously.

So, this is Billy being a Sassbox

It is also quite surprises him and he thinks you're being sassy. No, Billy, not sassy just inept. Soh and Hayate barge in to figure out why player is screaming and everyone decides to take a bath. In which she eventually joins and then its breakfast time. But the point of this was the whole sassy towel thing. I laugh like a madman every time I play it. For me it symbolizes how close A Team is and how nonchalant Billy is - something that I don't know if is specificaly American or Male. I like him because he's confident and pretty (and he is). I like him becuase he's to the point and he rolls out his best lines as if they're normal replies. Have I mentioned just how soft his hair looks? Becuase hot damn, it looks so feathery and I just want to run my fingers through it. And I have no shame in that because I love soft things. That said, that's enough justification for me.
