The Texan - Billy (Ray Badass)

Billy profile
A member of the A Team. Optimistic and easy-going. Billy believes pursuit of pleasure is the most important in life: he likes women, and often teases you. But he looks like a different person when he holds a gun: he is cool and reliable. When it comes to a gun, no one can compete with him. You would like him to be like that always (Billy's Profile from the Hero In Love).

Billy is all the things I love about men wrapped into one blue eyed blonde package. I wish I were kidding about that but to top it all off he also happened to be a sharp shooter, so I was sold. What's more is that he's self-assured in what he's doing is right and he has a past that he likes to keep a secret. He's an over confident flirt that tends to keep people at arm's length despite his constant teasing of women and spending time with them. He is also just about every stereotypical American trait you could imagine rolled into one package. Over-confident and self-assured that everyone loves him. Check. Catastrophic Palate. Check. Too easy going. Check. Cool like a movie star. Check! Unreliable. Check! Complete Badass. Check! In fact, I don't even know if he listens to the things he says. He says them because they sound cool, but Soh and Hayate seem used to his antics (and always annoyed by them).

It's a requirement.

I believe a lot of his confidence comes from the fact that he's a world famous gunslinger. He's had years to build confidence in something he's good at. He takes pride in his work and it makes him confident that no one can out shoot (or hit him). His ability to shoot is most likely aided by clarivoyance. I believe that he was an exceptional sharp shooter before clairvoyance and that the ability continued to improve his shooting. I'm also certain that the fame and being extremely good looking help with that, as there are plenty of ladies that want to spend time with him.

To be fair, Billy is most likely used to being a showman. He is a world reknowned sharp-shooter, he has fame in his profession as a cowboy (this is what drew him to the A Team). For me this is why he strikes poses, says things to get a rise out of people, and why he is over confident. He knows how to pull in a crowd (or woman) and keep them. He knows how to get what he wants and his clairvoyance assists him in this.

Born in Texas he lived with his mother and sister until their passing. His mother and sister were killed and he grew up as a sharp shooter. Presumably to be able to defend himself after his mother died to protect him. I believe this is one reason that Billy ultimately values women. He is a flirt, but he also seems to genuinely value women. Despite that, I feel that his constant flirting, one night stands, over confidence, and wanting people close but pushing them away keep him from being too reckless. Naturally, I feel like he's trying to protect his heart because he's still troubled by his mother and baby sister's passing. This is something he keeps locked away, something he would not face if he didn't have too. It's easier to be easy going and focus on the moment than to dwell on the one memory he has of her.

Billy's Invincibility

As a body guard he is reasonable and to the point. He believes it is easier and safer to keep his protectee near him because if he were trying to abduct her it would be easiest to create a diversaion so that the team had to leave. Thus he believes it is easiest to take his charge with him, despite the possible dangerous. He's so assured in his abilities though, that he promises to keep her safe on his gun.

Dr. Azuma, Inspector Sakuragi, and the A Team are a second family to him. They give his life meaning and he works as hard as he can for them. He is actually very level-headed and tends to let the team know what he is thinking. While working, he feels it is easiest to keep their charge with them. He is so assured in his and his teams abilities that he feels it is much easier to keep someone safe with them while they work rather than to leave them unprotected somewhere. Although Soh is usually the first to disagree with him, Soh trusts his insight and judgment. Everyone agrees that when Billy has a gun in his hand he is extremely reliable and that's most likely why they default to trusting him. It doesn't hurt that everyone believes he's invincible when he has a gun in his hands.
